Suresh Babu has been elected as the new president of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce. His Progressive Panel won the election held on Sunday defeating the Mana Panel.
Ashok Kumar has taken charge as the new secretary, while well-known producer Nag Vamsi and Bharat Chowdary have been elected as vice presidents.
This year’s election saw two strong panels contesting for posts in different sectors such as producers, exhibitors, distributors, and studios.
The Progressive Panel was led by Suresh Babu and included prominent industry figures like Dil Raju, Allu Arvind, K.S. Rama Rao, Y. Ravi Shankar, and Swapna Dutt. The Mana Panel was led by Chadalavada Srinivas, C. Kalyan, YVS Chowdary and Prasanna Kumar.
As per Film Chamber rules, the president post this year was reserved for the exhibitors sector. Suresh Babu contested from this sector and won with a clear majority.
Before this, chairpersons for all four sectors and 44 executive committee members were elected, with the Progressive Panel securing more seats. Out of 3,355 registered members only 43 percent voted. The new panel will lead the chamber until 2027.
